What if the entire world had FUN
for a day? Imagine people all over the world
celebrating together by engaging in the same
playful activities at the exact same time. Would
we raise the human spirit, increase the level of
compassion, and bring about a reunion of the
global family?
We have an excellent opportunity to find out.
Suppose we coordinate one extended party that
moves across the face of the Earth and allows
everyone to celebrate together. What would
happen?
This is the powerful vision I had in 1984. I saw
a 24-hour celebration choreographed via satellite
and beamed to people on every continent. People
all over the world celebrated peace by engaging
in simultaneous activities during the first five
minutes of every hour.
Now that the technology has caught up to this
vision, we are extending an invitation to
communities throughout the world to join in the
fun of the largest team-building event in the
history of the world: Planet Teamwork: The World
Family Celebration.
A GLOBAL
HELLO
The party begins at
midnight in New Zealand, Vanuatu and Fiji. It is
still early morning on December 31 in the United
States. Via satellite we see the Maori people
begin with a blast of their native wind
instruments, with us joining in on conch shells,
brass or woodwind instruments. The first global
hello.
The next hour, the celebration moves to the
Solomon Islands and ultimately around the planet.
For five minutes at the top of every hour,
everybody says hello to their brothers and
sisters around the world.
Imagine the power of people all over the world
doing the same thing at the same time. Different
activities happen every hour, a whole menu, of
drumming, lighting candles, singing, ringing
bells, sounding trumpets, holding hands, and
dancing. These are simple activities of
celebration that people can participate in no
matter where they are, no matter what age they
happen to be.
The remaining 55 minutes of each hour that day is
devoted to local community festivities, such as
concerts, good deeds and giveaways. None of us
has ever had the experience of playing together
as One Family, living in a world where everyone
understands and respects one another. Such an
experience will be so profound as to recreate
itself over and over and over again... Until it
becomes a way of life.
We now have the technology. We have the occasion.
We have the will. Let's do it!
My friends and I have embarked on a spirited
crusade to make this vision a reality. We are
Sworn To Fun! And for us, FUN means Friends and
Family Uniting Neighborhoods and Nations. Joy in
celebrating, joy in uniting. Joy in being alive!
